Installing WordPress via Softaculous

Softaculous is the one-click app installer built into every Hoststack cPanel and DirectAdmin account. This is a fast reference for the install itself — for a full step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots and post-install setup, see our complete WordPress install guide.

Where to find Softaculous

• cPanel: "Software" section → Softaculous Apps Installer
• DirectAdmin: left sidebar → "Extra Features" → Softaculous
• WordPress is pinned at the top of the Softaculous homepage under "Popular Installs"

Key fields on the install form

• Choose Protocol — always select https:// since SSL is pre-active on Hoststack domains
• In Directory — leave blank for root install; type a folder name (e.g. blog) to install at yoursite.com/blog
• Admin Username/Password — avoid "admin"; Softaculous will warn if the password is weak
• Select Language and Select Plugin(s) — Softaculous can pre-install a caching or SEO plugin during setup if you tick it here
• Backup Location (under Advanced Options) — Softaculous can auto-backup this install on a schedule

After the install finishes

Softaculous emails your admin login and shows a direct link to yoursite.com/wp-admin. The install itself typically takes 30–60 seconds. From here:

• Install the free LiteSpeed Cache plugin for the biggest speed gain
• Confirm both WordPress and Site Address use https:// under Settings → General
• Softaculous keeps a "My Installatron" style history under "Installation History" so you can reinstall or remove later
