Game VPS Overview

A Hoststack Game VPS is a virtual private server with full root access, sized and priced for gaming workloads — a different product from our managed Game Servers, which come with a game panel pre-installed. Here's the difference and how to pick between them.

What's included with a Game VPS

• Full root/administrator access — install any OS, any game server binary, any tooling
• Dedicated CPU cores and RAM, not shared with a game panel's other tenants
• NVMe storage and high clock-speed CPUs tuned for tick-rate-sensitive games
• DDoS protection and a dedicated IP included
• Room to run multiple game servers or a game server alongside a Discord bot, website, or voice server

Game VPS vs. managed Game Server

• Game Server: pre-built panel, one-click game install, no command line needed — best if you just want to play
• Game VPS: blank server with root access — you install and configure everything yourself, but with zero restrictions
• Game VPS is the better fit for games not covered by our game panel, custom builds, or running several servers under one machine
• Managed Game Server hosting is the better fit if you'd rather skip Linux/Windows server administration entirely

Getting started

Choose your OS image (Ubuntu, Debian, or Windows Server) at checkout, and we provision root access within minutes. You'll get SSH or RDP credentials in your welcome email — from there you can install SteamCMD, your game server binary, and any mods exactly as you would on a bare-metal machine.
